Founder & President
Kylie Nakash is a Pre-College violin major at Juilliard and a student at Brooklyn Technical High School (Class of 2028). She is the Founder and President of Melodies in Medicine, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing licensed music therapy to underserved communities, including neurodivergent individuals and those living with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.
Through her school club, BTHS Meaningful Mentors, Kylie supports students from underserved communities with academic guidance and music coaching. She believes deeply in the transformative power of music to heal, inspire, and empower. Through collaboration with musicians and community partners, Kylie works to create meaningful impact locally, nationally, and globally.
Why We Exist
Music therapy is often expensive and out of reach for many individuals and families. Melodies in Medicine was founded to ensure therapy is accessible to all, bringing licensed music therapists to those who need it most. Our programs foster emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being through evidence-based music therapy services, mentorship, and educational initiatives.
Kylie’s passion for helping others through music began at a young age, inspiring the creation of a nonprofit that combines her interests in music, science, and community service.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make evidence-based music therapy accessible to all. Music interventions have been shown to improve emotional regulation, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance cognitive functioning in individuals who are neurodivergent, experiencing trauma, living with anxiety or depression, or managing dementia. We aim to harness the scientifically supported benefits of music to inspire, empower, and positively transform lives.
Why It Matters
Although the benefits of music therapy are well-documented, access to qualified practitioners is often limited by high costs. By making these services accessible, we empower individuals to heal, connect, and thrive, fostering positive change within communities through the therapeutic power of music.
Your support helps us:
• Fund free or low-cost sessions for underserved and neurodivergent individuals
• Expand workshops and community outreach
• Provide mentorship and academic support through school programs
• Develop resources for families, caregivers, and institutions
• Support research and innovation in music therapy
